Mark your calendars, sidecar enthusiasts! The upcoming 81st Members’ Meeting at the Goodwood Motor Circuit is about to witness an unprecedented spectacle – a thrilling sidecar shootout featuring three-wheeled racing machines, making it the first modern vehicle race at Goodwood in decades.
Scheduled for April 13-14, the event promises an immersive experience for members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club, established in 1998 by the Duke of Richmond.
From Saturday’s qualifying sessions to the eagerly anticipated Sunday Sidecar Shoot-Out, this competition marks a groundbreaking return of modern vehicles to the circuit, a sight not seen since 1966. Expect a riveting display of high speeds, tight turns, and intense racing, ensuring a weekend filled with excitement and close competition.
The Hailwood Trophy event during the meeting will also feature pre-1984 250cc and 350cc Grand Prix motorcycles, along with pre-1973 Formula 750s, adding a nostalgic touch to the already thrilling lineup.
Tim Reeves, an eight-time FIM World Sidecar Champion, is collaborating with Goodwood to assemble a diverse collection of sidecars from various disciplines for attendees to admire. Reeves expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s been a pleasure to work alongside the Goodwood team on bringing such a spectacular collection of sidecars. With incredible speed, high adrenaline, and nail-biting cornering, Sunday’s Sidecar Shoot-Out will definitely bring something new to the Goodwood Members’ Meeting.”
For those not captivated by the three-wheelers, the weekend promises a smorgasbord of classic two-, three-, and four-wheeled racing machinery, accompanied by a delightful array of food, drinks, and more. Goodwood’s 81st Members’ Meeting is gearing up to be a historic event that combines the thrill of modern sidecar racing with the timeless charm of classic vehicles.
