Restored 1991 Acura Integra: A Rolling Tribute to the Glorious Early 1990s

In the automotive world, the early 1990s were marked by the rise of the import performance movement, and one of the iconic cars of that era was the Acura Integra. A true contender in the U.S. market, the second-generation (1990-1993) Integra left a lasting impact. Rowell Ysmael’s 1991 Acura Integra LS serves as a rolling tribute to this glorious era, having undergone a meticulous restoration and customization process.

Purchased in 2007, Rowell’s Integra has been a continuous project and a symbol of his passion for the DA/DB2 chassis. The restoration took five years to complete, during which he sourced rare and sought-after JDM parts, transforming the car into a unique and pristine example of the era.

The exterior received a makeover with JDM DA6 bumpers, fenders, doors, single-piece headlights, and a factory optional aero kit, showcasing the attention to detail in recreating the iconic ’90s look. The custom deep red paint extends into the meticulously cleaned and polished engine bay.

Under the hood, the original B18A engine made way for a 1.7L VTEC engine from the North American GS-R model. Performance upgrades include a Skunk2 header, Ultra street intake manifold, and a custom velocity stack connected to a 70mm Blox throttle body. The engine bay underwent extensive decluttering, relocation of components, and the use of AN lines and fittings, resulting in a spotless presentation.

The suspension was refreshed with powder-coated spindles and trailing arms, Prothane bushings, and upgraded sway bars. The right-hand drive conversion adds a unique touch to the cockpit, where a Recaro Pro SPG XL bucket seat, Crow Enterprise harness, JDM OEM seating, Mugen FG360 steering wheel, Hybrid Racing adjustable shifter, and other high-end collectibles create a functional and stylish interior.

Rowell’s meticulous approach to every aspect of the build, from the exterior aesthetics to the engine bay and interior details, showcases the dedication of Honda enthusiasts in preserving the spirit of the early 1990s. His restored 1991 Acura Integra stands as a rolling reminder of the golden era of import performance and continues to capture the admiration of automotive enthusiasts.
